About the 308

The Peugeot 308 came onto the market as the successor to the 307 in 2007. Like the 307, it is a small family car.

The first two generations of the 308 typically went up against other members in the C-segment category like the Ford Focus and VW Golf.

Upon the release of the revised third-generation, with its focus on the high-end, the 308 faces competition from even the big German offerings like the Audi A3, BMW 1 Series, and Mercedes A-Class.

A number of class variants were introduced later on. These include the 308 GT, 308 CC, 308 SW, and the Chinese exclusive 308 sedan. The GT denotes the sports version of the 308, while the other two are a coupé cabriolet and station wagon respectively.

The first two generations of the 308 feature a front-mounted engine with the options of front-wheel or four-wheel-drive. However, the third generation 308 only comes in the front-wheel-drive configuration.

Engine configurations range from 1.2-liter to 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline options and 1.5-liter to 2-liter turbodiesel, depending on which generation and model.

The second generation was released in 2014, just after which it then won European Car of the Year.

The 308 CC was missing from this lineup, including now only the hatchback in standard and GTI, as well as the station wagon.

The third iteration of the 308 came with huge changes in 2021. Dramatic aesthetics show Peugeot’s dedication to changing up their lineup to the more upmarket.

Along with a brand new look, the third-generation 308 comes with plug-in hybrid technology. Two options, 180 kW and 225 kW were made available for the hybrid 308.

A step further for the 308, a battery-electric version called the e-308 has been announced, and will likely come in June 2023.
