About the G5 (Pursuit)

The Pontiac G5, later called the G5 Pursuit, is a compact car that was sold between 2007 and 2009. It represents a rebadged version of its corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Cobalt. It was also sold as the Pontiac Pursuit in Canada.

During its time on the market, there was only a single generation released. This model was released as a successor to the Pontiac Sunfire. Depending on the region, it was also replaced by the Chevrolet Cruze.

It was sold as either a 2-door coupe or a 4-door sedan. These were built on the Delta Platform, the same as the Chevrolet Cobalt.

Similar models that were considered competition included the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Mazda 3.

The final version was only offered in two trim levels. These were the base and the GT, which is fairly standard practice for any Pontiac offerings.

As the GT level represents the premium option, it has various upgrades like larger alloy wheels, better suspension, cruise control, and various other interior trim upgrades.

Interestingly, both the base and GT levels have front-wheel drivetrains.

Powertrains available consisted of two petrol engines for the two different trim levels. The base model was outfitted with a 2.2-liter inline-4, while the GT model was given a 2.4-liter DOHC four-cylinder with variable valve timing. Both of these were naturally aspirated.

There was never a diesel model sold.

Transmissions were limited to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic.
