About the Nautilus

Among Lincoln’s exclusive SUV lineup, the Nautilus represents the mid-size family luxury SUV. While the larger flagship Lincoln Navigator is boxier in its overall appearance, the Nautilus features a more aerodynamic design. It competes in a tough market against the likes of the Genesis GV80, the BMW X5, the Porsche Cayenne and the Volvo XC90.

When the Nautilus was first released, it was actually known as the Lincoln MKX, with production launched in 2006 for the 2007 model year. It received its first facelift in 2011, before moving on to a second generation in 2016, at which time it was still the MKX. It didn’t become Nautilus until 2019.

The 2019 name change to Nautilus also represented a refresh in the design, which was then updated again in the 2021 model year, especially working on the interior to bring it more in line with the Navigator and Aviator models. The latest models are available in 3 trim levels, namely Standard (from $44,225), Reserve (from $50,630), and Black Label (from $66,825).

The Nautilus comes with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine as standard delivering up to 250-hp and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It’ll get from 0 to 60 in just 6.8 seconds, beating out luxury competitors like the Lexus RX350 in the process, but not quite beating the Cadillac XT5 which managed the same in 6.6 seconds.

Those wanting more power can get it from the optional 335-hp V6 engine which will cut that 0 to 60 times down to 5.9 seconds. The added power makes the Nautilus a lot more comfortable on the highway, so those who need that highway boost are best opting for the V6 powertrain.

Lincoln has done well to maintain the quality interior that one would expect from this brand even on the entry-level models. Climb the trim ladder and you can get access to the most sumptuous leather and wood finishes, not to mention a faux-suede headliner!
