About the 200

The Chrysler 200 saw 2 generations of design across the 6 years it was in production between the model years of 2011 and 2017.

It was styled as the smaller brother of the 300 which proved a popular model around the world despite its terrible interior letting it down.

When it was first introduced, Chrysler intended for it to replace the Sebring, another mid-size car that ran for almost 15 years.

Sales were always pretty good for the 200 and surpassed the 300 for a lot of the time but were killed off shortly after the release of the second generation as sales slid.

Engine choices were the same throughout the life of the car with the choice of a sensible inline 2.4-liter or a 3.6-liter V6 for a more interesting ride.

All trims of the 200 featured high-tech infotainment systems to appeal to a younger market with the help of their Super Bowl ad featuring Eminem.

Safety ratings and performance of the car were much better in the later versions than at first but this did nothing to calm the slide in sales.

Chrysler's parent company Fiat decided to drop the 200 in 2017 and focus those customers on their growing range of crossover SUVs such as the Jeep Cherokee.

Common 200 Warnings

The most common warning light that we see here at WarningLights.co for the Chrysler 200 is for a loose gas cap.

It is illustrated as a car with a screw coming out of the side of it and could be a sign that you don't tighten the gas cap up properly.

If you do not put the gas cap in correctly after refilling your Chrysler 200 with fuel then it may not have a tight seal and the fuel pump system could struggle to build up the correct pressure.

Ensure that you tighten the gas cap tightly and wait for 3 clicks when twisting before stopping.

Alongside the gas cap problem, we see a lot of visitors reporting the electronic throttle warning as well.

It is illustrated as a lightning bolt and suggests that there is a problem with the system that takes your throttle position and delivers that information to the engine.

If this data gets corrupted then you could experience strange behavior when driving your Chrysler 200 and possibly put the occupants in danger.
