About the Ignis

The Suzuki Ignis is a very small city car that was first released in 2000, and has stayed pretty much the same since that date. It’s faced tough competition along the way, such as the Kia Picanto and Volkswagen Up!, and has kept up with them to an extent. The Ignis is one of the most practical city cars on the market, it has a unique style and optional four-wheel drive. However, the car does fail to impress when you look under the hood, and rivals simply offer more. Ultimately, this model is a great option if you just want a budget city car, but if you’re looking for something a little more exciting, you might want to search elsewhere.

There’s only one choice of engine with the Ignis. It comes by way of a small 1.2-liter petrol engine which is supported by an even smaller electric motor. Together, this hybrid system generates just 82 horsepower. The car feels fine at lower speeds, thanks to the hybrid system, but it does start to feel out of its depth once you get out of the city. You will at least, have great fuel economy and won’t see the petrol warning light as much as you would if you were in a Kia Picanto or Dacia Duster.

Suzuki has done a terrible job with the interior of the Ignis. The cabin is comprised of low-quality materials, which both look and feel low quality and flimsy. The vehicle also lacks boot space when compared to rivals, which reduces its practicality considerably.

The touchscreen infotainment system found in the cabin may look like a great touch, but in reality, it’s terrible. The touchscreen will constantly glitch or crash, making it a burden to use. The built-in Satnav is also inaccurate.
