About the CX-7
The compact crossover SUV Mazda CX-7 took advantage of the move by the consumer towards a small all-around car.
It first entered production in 2006 and lasted until 2012 when the focus was moved to the CX-5 and CX-8 (not in the USA) by Mazda in order to give customers the choice of a large SUV or a small SUV.
For all of the years that the Mazda CX-7 was being produced our sister site collected an owner's manual and displays it for free for download or printing.
Engine choices for this smaller SUV were a 2.3-liter turbocharged gasoline or a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel mated to a 5 or 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The CX-7 was made up of parts of other models by Mazda and other sister brands such as the rear suspension from the Mazda5 and the front suspension of an MPV.
The car did see a face-lift version in 2009 focusing mainly on the grille at the front and modernizing the dials and instrument cluster with its warning lights.
The safety ratings for the car awarded to it by NHTSA were almost all 5 out of 5 stars with the mode only falling back to 4 stars on the rollover tests as is common for SUVs of all sizes.
