About the Armada

The Nissan Armada is the largest and mightiest SUV in the Nissan range. It has been around since the 2004 model year and is currently in its second generation. The first generation went from 2004 to 2017 with a refresh in 2008. The current model generation began in 2017 with a recent refresh in 2021.

The Nissan Armada was built to deal with the other “big boys” in the market like the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Ford Expedition Max. The latest edition post-facelift has received praise for its new looks and technology additions, and with starting prices at $48,900 for brand-new models, it is also among the best priced.

Mighty is the right word for the Armada since it boasts a very respectable towing capacity of 8,500-lbs, and is powered by a massive 5.6L V8 engine outputting up to 400-hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. It’s also mighty in its cargo capacity, totaling 92.6 cubic feet when you take down both the second and third seating rows.

The suspension is well-tuned and helps the Armada handle surprisingly well, but it has to be said that the above-mentioned competition like the GMC Yukon is more agile on the road. The suspension and damping do make the ride comfortable and quiet, however, even when riding on the largest 22-inch alloys.

Design also helps to set the Armada apart, inside and out. The exterior is bold and powerful, with just enough finesse in details like the headlight design and the signature chrome trim around the front grille. It’s a stunning mix of power and style. The inside, too, seats up to 7 or 8 (depending on if you use captain’s chairs for the second row) and is well kitted out with cushy seats, soft materials, quilted surfaces, a large and intuitive infotainment system, and an optional 13-speaker Bose premium audio system.
