About the Eclipse Cross

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is one of the sportiest looking subcompact SUVs on the market, helping it to stand out from its rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Eclipse Cross certainly gets a whole lot right, but it also gets several key things wrong, making it no more than average in a saturated market. Its best features include the interior and comfort. But, it fails to deliver in terms of performance and fuel economy. Ultimately, if you’re looking for comfort and style, the car could be a great choice for you, but if you prefer function over fashion, you might want to look elsewhere.

Since its release in 2018, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has come equipped with a modest 4-cylinder petrol engine. If this seems a bit small for a subcompact SUV, that’s because it is. In fact, accelerating from 0-60 will take you nearly 9 seconds, making the Cross one of the slower SUVs on the market. The engine is also thirsty, so don’t be surprised to see your fuel warning light pop up after seemingly every journey.

To give credit to Mitsubishi, the engine is well-made and refined, and hardly any noise or vibration will seep into the cabin, helping the ride to stay comfortable and quiet. The soft suspension adds to this and will soak up the majority of the road’s imperfections.

The steering of the Eclipse Cross is very light. This makes parking and tight maneuvers much easier, but it does take away from the fun of driving down backroads at high speeds.
The interior of this Mitsubishi is certainly one of its best features. All the materials used are of a high quality, which makes the interior feel much more luxurious than rivals like the VW Tiguan.
