About the Ram ProMaster (incl. City)

The Ram ProMaster is a rebadged version of the Fiat Ducato for the North American market that has been sold since 1981. It sits in the light commercial van class.

It only joined the North American market in 2014, being manufactured by Stellantis. There has only been one generation of the Ram Trucks version currently.

It has also been sold as the Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, and Opel Movano depending on the region in question

There are three models in the ProMaster range. These are the smallest 1500, followed by the 2500, and the 3500. This is in line with the rest of the Ram Trucks range like the Ram pickup truck.

Accordingly, payloads increase with the respective model sizes, with the largest version being able to carry up to 2010 kg or 4,430 lbs.

Ram sells the ProMaster in several different configurations, most of which are typically found in light commercial vehicles. These include low and high-roof cargo vans, window vans, chassis cab, and cutaway chassis that is often used for motor homes.

There are various wheelbases, which range between short, regular, and long. There is also the smaller version which is called the ProMaster City.

All of these models are powered by a 3.6-liter Chrysler Pentastar V6. This was recently updated to the new Pentastar Upgrade engine in 2021. Diesel powertrains were limited to a 3-liter Chrysler EcoDiesel inline-4, but these were discontinued altogether in 2019.

These engines have been mated with either a 6-speed or a 9-speed automatic transmission for the diesel and petrol models respectively. There was also a 6-speed manual gearbox sold.

The ProMaster was given a facelift in 2019. This gave it new front fascia and other exterior changes.
