About the Toledo

The Seat Toledo is a family car that aims to look and feel sporty, but also be cheap to run and practical to use in everyday situations like school runs and camping trips. The Toledo isn’t anything ground-breaking, but it does offer decent specs for a reasonable price and is a great choice for anyone looking for something to get their family from A to B.

Under the hood, the Toledo has a variety of options. The most common is a 1.2 or 1.6-liter turbocharged diesel, producing 103 horsepower each. These engines aren’t anything special and they’re certainly not quick. But that’s not what they’re built for. The engines are economical, easy to use, good for parking and quiet. This makes for the ideal family car engine.

There are a few problems with the overall handling. For instance, the suspension is pretty firm, which can make for an uncomfortable ride at times. But, the Toledo makes up for this with excellent steering, which is light and responsive and makes the Toledo a little more fun to drive.

Before Volkswagen even took over the company around the year 2000, SEAT has been using the VW Golf chassis and many of the same components in the Toledo's body too.

The interior is built with the family in mind. There is more than enough boot space for camping equipment, suitcases and pretty much anything else you could think of, making the Toledo a seriously practical choice for families. There’s also plenty of legroom which makes for a very comfortable ride. The interior does feel pretty cheap and flimsy. Hard plastics comprise the majority of the trim, but it does do the job and it’s easy to clean.

As for infotainment, the Toledo isn’t ground-breaking. More expensive models will come with a small touchscreen centre that gets the job done and there are some handy features like cruise control.

The Toledo is also very safe, scoring an overall safety rating of 5 stars.
