About the 3008

The Peugeot 3008 was introduced as the French company’s updated compact crossover SUV in 2008. It is the successor to the compact 4007 and subcompact 4008 SUVs.

The 3008 was developed in conjunction with the Citroën C5 under the PSA Group, and as such both of the French company’s offerings share a number of similarities. Similarly, the 3008 is also related to the Opel Grandland X.

Competition for the 3008 comes mostly from the immensely popular Volkswagen Tiguan.

Like many other compact crossover SUVs, the 3008 is a 5-door, front-engine, front-wheel-drive car.

The first generation 3008 came with a number of engine types, including petrol, diesel, and hybrid.

Petrol offerings included the 1.2-liter EB e-THP and the 1.6-liter Prince, with the option to turbocharge the larger engine. In the diesel category, there were the 1.6-liter DV6 HDi and 2-liter DW10 HDi.

The hybrid version of the 3008, the HYbrid4, was launched in early 2012. It came with the larger of the two diesel engines coupled with an electric motor.

The second generation of the 3008 arrived at the end of 2016. The new generation featured Peugeot’s new and improved iCockpit as well as a revamped exterior.

The changes for the new 3008 did not go unnoticed, as it managed to win the European Car of the Year 2017.

Engine configurations for the second generation are very similar to the first generation’s, only now being produced by PSA Group in-house. All petrol offerings come turbocharged, with a plug-in hybrid electric variant being available.

A new 1.5-liter PSA diesel engine also became available with the second generation.

The new 3008 received another facelift in 2020. Changes included a new front end, upgraded technology and interior, and finally updates to the rear lighting.
