About the Altima

Like a number of models in the Nissan range, the Nissan Altima is a car with history. It was first launched in 1992 and has held other names during its time within the Nissan family, including the Nissan Bluebird (1992-1997) and the Nissan Teana (2012-2018). It is currently in its 6th generation, with brand-new models starting at around $24,650.

The Altima is characterized by strong, dynamic lines running from the bonnet and along its profile. The front-end design includes an impressive chrome-framed grille with sweep-back headlights and angular air intakes. The rear roof has a slight coupe-like slope with contemporary angular lines surrounding the tail light clusters. It exudes executive class while also offering impressive engine power and family-friendly utility.

In its current form, the Nissan Altima is powered by a standard 2.5L 4-cylinder engine outputting up to 188-hp. The Altima is marketed as a car offering much more power than the typical Nissan sedan (such as the Sentra and the Maxima), and they have an extra option for the Altima to prove that. One can opt instead for a 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers up to 248-hp.

The Altima is currently available in 4 trims: S, SV, SR, and Platinum. The higher trim levels such as the SR deliver a sport-tuned suspension along with 19-inch wheels, which many people claim make it a more fun car to drive than the standard specification.

The majority of buyers for the Altima, however, have been families looking for a decent-sized, affordable and reliable sedan car. The Altima offers an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel, remote engine start, seat memory system, heated front seats and more. It’s a strong package that can also be combined with more dynamic engines for those that prefer the additional power.

Nissan is very generous with both space and safety as well. The Altima delivers more than 15 cubic feet of trunk space, and huge, comfortable back seats with plenty of legroom. Nissan’s Safety Shield system includes front and rear automated emergency braking, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, high beam assist and more.
