About the Veloster

The Hyundai Veloster is a coupe that is incredibly practical and offers great equipment for its price. However, it feels extremely mundane as a car, and lacks any kind of personality.
Under the hood, the Hyundai Veloster is equipped with a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine produces just under 140 horsepower, allowing the Veloster to accelerate from 0-60 in just under 10 seconds. This is by no means fast in the coupe class, so if you’re looking for a sporty model, you might want to look elsewhere.

Besides this, the overall ride is very comfortable. The Veloster’s suspension reaches a great balance between performance and comfort, allowing passengers to ride in comfort and drivers to get a good response from the car. Hyundai also did a great job with the steering. The Veloster will feel pretty heavy if you throw it into corners, but for everyday driving, it works a charm.

It is built on the same Kia/Hyundai platform that is also used under the Hyundai Accent and the Kia Rio in a slightly different setup.

Inside the cabin, the Hyundai Veloster is interesting, to say the least. Hyundai opted for a single rear side door. This may seem like a good idea, but in reality, it isn’t. It can be extremely difficult to enter the Veloster, no matter your size or height. The difficulty to enter the cabin seems extremely unnecessary, and it would have been easy for Hyundai to simply add two more doors.

Luckily, the cabin is a pleasant place to be in, if you can get inside the Veloster! The cabin features high-quality plastics all around, and the cabin is overall extremely sturdy and feels very luxurious. There’s plenty of kit too, from cruise control to a stereo.

Some common problems with the Hyundai Veloster include the car hesitating during acceleration. Other reported problems include the car going into limp mode and excessive oil consumption.
