About the Logan

The Dacia Logan is a small-size family car produced jointly by French auto giant Renault and its popular Romanian subsidiary, Dacia. It was first launched back in 2004, releasing a second generation in 2012, and then a third generation in 2020. Over the years, it has been marketed as a sedan, small station wagon, and even in a pickup truck variant.

Depending on which market you are living and working in, you might have seen the Logan name with different badging. Some saw the Dacia Logan, others the Renault Logan, and some even the Nissan Aprio, among others. Nonetheless, the Logan has been a top-selling car, with sales reaching more than 4 million units worldwide.

Features in the earlier models were fairly limited given that the initial target of Renault and Dacia was to make the car cheap enough to compete in markets like Russia, even against other Renault-owned brands like Lada. The outdated Lada models were still outselling nicer Renaults, mostly because they were about half the price.

By the second generation, however, with the marque well established across Europe, Dacia were able to add more features such as a 7-inch touchscreen, speed limiter, cruise control, rear parking sensor and additional airbags all as standard features. They were even able to keep up with new Euro 6 emissions standards.

The latest third-generation models are longer with a slimmer and sleeker overall shape. This helps them to compete aesthetically with higher-end models, while still offering a much better price point. It’s currently powered by a range of 1.0L gasoline engines, as well as a 1.5L Renault diesel engine option, too.

The Dacia Logan will never be a luxury sedan, and possibly never considered as high-end even as some of its affordable Japanese counterparts, but it will always represent something important to many consumers, which is excellent functionality combined with unbeatable value.
