About the 1 Series

The BMW 1-Series is a premium family hatchback that has been on the roads since 2004, receiving major facelifts along the way, such as in 2013, to keep it modern and fresh. The 1-Series aims to compete with top rivals like the Skoda Octavia and SEAT Leon by offering unmatched performance, a well-equipped cabin, and excellent styling. This model is ultimately an excellent choice if you’re looking for the most premium family hatchback on the market.

Under the hood, there are a variety of engines to choose from. Perhaps the best engine is the 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 134 horsepower. This will accelerate the 1-Series from 0-60 in under 9 seconds, which is quicker than some top competitors, like the 2019 Mercedes A-Class. The engine is overall very refined and smooth and is great for everyday driving.

BMW is renowned for its refined ride, and the 1-Series doesn’t disappoint. The suspension is pretty firm, which enhances performance. It can make for an uncomfortable ride at times, but on the majority of roads, the little executive car feels very comfortable. The steering is also light and agile, making it feel athletic and capable even in the tightest of corners.

The interior of the 1-Series is one of the cars’ best features. Everything is laid out perfectly, and you’ll have everything you need on the dash, from the warning lights to the speedometer and infotainment system.

The interior feels very well-made too. The cabin is comprised of high-quality plastics and leather, which make for a minimalistic and modern design. There’s plenty of cargo space in the boot and passengers will ride in the utmost comfort thanks to ample legroom for even the tallest passenger.
