About the Ateca (incl. Cupra)

The Seat Ateca is a family SUV that has the same foundation as the immensely successful Volkswagen Tiguan. But Seat has put its own spin on this chassis, coming up with a stylish, affordable and well-equipped family SUV that will offer great practicality for everyday use. The Ateca is overall a great choice for any family member looking for a dependable and stylish ride.

The entry-level model comes equipped with a 1.0-liter petrol engine, producing 108 horsepower. This will allow the Ateca to accelerate from 0-60 in just over 11 seconds. This might seem slow, but it’ll be more than enough for most everyday situations. In fact, the only time you might feel the lack of power is when you’re overtaking on the motorway.

If you want something a little more powerful, Seat does offer a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 148 horsepower. This takes the 0-60 time down to under ten seconds and is noticeably more comfortable at high speeds than the entry-level engine. However, the more powerful engine is considerably more expensive, which is something to bear in mind.

The overall handling of the Ateca isn’t revolutionary, but it’s not bad either. The suspension is pretty firm, which can lead to an uncomfortable ride on harsher terrains. But, overall the Ateca fails well controlled even in tight bends, and the steering is sharp and responsive.

Underneath it uses the same chassis as many Volkswagen brand models such as the Škoda Karoq and the Volkswagen T-Roc.

The interior is built for practicality, making it perfect for families. There’s more than enough boot space for several suitcases and ample legroom means that passengers will ride in comfort, even for longer journeys. The interior is also nicely decorated, with leather and plastic throughout, making for a minimalistic and modern design. Although, the plastic will mark and scratch easily, as the materials used aren’t the highest of quality.
