About the 370Z

Nissan’s legendary sports car, the Nissan 370Z was produced between 2009 and 2020 before finally completing production and actually selling out in some markets. There is literally no more new stock left for fans, who are now having to wait for the upcoming 2023 Nissan Z to get a taste of brand-new sports car technology from this Japanese giant.

The Nissan 370Z (Fairlady Z Z34) was the successor to the 350Z (Z33) that was on the market from 2002 to 2009. It is the end of a long line of “Z” cars going back half a century, with the 2020 350Z actually being made as the 50th Anniversary Edition.

What should come to mind when you think of the 370Z, or any Nissan Z car? Two-tone exterior paint is one feature, though it’s true not every model featured it. It was always a 2-seater coupe or roadster and had naturally aspirated engines. The 370Z featured a 3.7L V6 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The history of the 370Z was also one of many milestones and special editions. These included (but were not limited to) the NISMO 370Z, the 370Z Yellow, the Nurburgring Edition, the 40th Anniversary Edition (2010), the 50th Anniversary Edition (2020), the Fairlady Z version NISMO, the Black Edition, Fairlady Z Coupe, and so the list goes on.

The flagship Nissan 370Z Coupe could get from 0 to 60 in just 4.7 seconds when using the manual transmission. A slightly better time of 4.6 seconds was recorded for the 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The US was consistently its best market, selling more than 13,000 models in the first model year of 2009.

As the world waits for the next Nissan Z car in 2023, it becomes impossible to forget the 370Z and the impressive lineage of automobiles of which it forms a critical part.
