About the Patriot

The Jeep Patriot is an off-road SUV that is surprisingly well equipped and capable of both off-road and on-road tasks. It features great value for money too, helping it to rival competitors such as BMW. However, the Patriot isn’t as practical as an SUV should be, which prevents it from surpassing its competition.

It is built on the same platform as the Dodge Nitro, with both partner companies sharing technology between the two lines.

Under the hood, the Jeep Patriot is equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that’s incredibly well refined and crafted. This engine gives the Patriot 161 horsepower and an impressive 236-pound feet of pulling capacity. You’ll be able to accelerate from 0-60 in under 10 seconds, which is great for a car of this size and price.

The Patriot is also surprisingly nice to drive. The big suspension helps to soak up any bumps or potholes, leaving you with a smooth experience. And the handling is great. Despite its weight, you can really throw the SUV into corners and feel where the weight is.

The story goes downhill when you take a look at the interior. Jeep has always preferred function over fashion, and it really shows with the Patriot. All you’ll get is hard plastics, which make the Patriot look both baron and cheap. On the plus side, there is ample room for passengers with luggage.

If you want decent equipment, you’ll have to invest in the most expensive models. They’ll give you great features such as heated seats, multi-function steering and cruise control. But, if you opt for a standard model, you’ll only get essentials like air-con.

The biggest problem with the Jeep Patriot is its reliability. Many users have reported a weak gearbox, faulty windows and even faulty mirrors and lights. This is incredibly disappointing, as the car is fairly expensive, and these issues really cheapen the whole experience.
