About the Compass

The Jeep Compass is a family SUV that attempts to differentiate itself in the market by being more family-friendly than other models. However, the Compass fails to live up to its name and heritage, with poor off-roading capabilities and falls short when compared to its biggest rivals.

The Compass comes equipped with a 1.3-liter petrol engine as standard. It can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in just over 10 seconds. This might seem slow to you, and it is- especially when you compare this time to rivals, some of whom can get to 60 in under 7 seconds.

The engine is also loud and uninspiring. The engine somehow just doesn’t feel very comfortable on the road, and you really have to work it hard to get any power out of it. So, if you’re looking for an SUV with a decent level of power, this Jeep model is not for you.

Another big problem with the Compass is how much noise it lets into the cabin. Not only will you hear a very loud engine noise, due to the unrefined engine and lack of soundproofing, but you’ll also hear a considerable amount of wind and road noise. This just adds to the annoyance that can come with driving the SUV.

Inside the cabin, the design is very simple and dull, especially compared to rivals from Land Rover and Audi. There’s plenty of room for storage, but that is where the praise ends. The interior feels cheap and rushed and you’ll feel jealous of every Range Rover that drives by.

The infotainment system is also sub-par when compared to competitors. The instrument cluster is poorly laid out and doesn’t come with nearly enough equipment for its price point.
