About the I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace is the British company’s first fully-electric vehicle and was announced in 2018.
This I-Pace signified a new chapter for Jaguar, as it takes one step further from some of its other hybrid models and towards an all-electric goal.
The I-Pace is a crossover SUV, and like many other crossover SUVs, the I-Pace has a 5-door layout and is also an all-wheel drive.
Unsurprisingly, there are not too many competitors for the I-Pace in the fully-electric SUV category. Some of the most notable of the existing rivals include the Audi e-tron, Tesla Model X, and the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The BMW i3 could also be considered one.
The powertrain for the I-Pace consists of two permanent magnet synchronous motors which develop an impressive 394 hp and 512 lb-ft of torque.
These motors are supplied by a 90 kWh LG Chem lithium-ion battery. On a full charge, the battery range is indicated to be about 292 miles.
The I-Pace also managed to score an impressive 5-star NCAP safety rating overall.
After its release, the I-Pace won a staggering 62 international car awards. The most notable of these awards is the European Car of the Year 2019, World Car of the Year 2019, Best Design, and Best Green Car awards.
The European Car of the Year 2019 is particularly notable as it marked the first time Jaguar ever won the prestigious award.
Charging is not the Jaguar I-Pace’s best feature at present. A maximum charge speed of 100 kW via a DC charger will get the I-Pace from 5 to 80% in about 45 minutes, which is quite a bit slower than others like the Porsche Taycan.
