About the F-Type

The release of the Jaguar F-Type in 2013 is one of the most significant moments in Jaguar’s recent history.

Upon its release, the 2-door rear-wheel-drive luxury grand tourer met critical acclaim. The F-Type was so well received that it is often seen as the primary driving factor for the styling behind the entire Jaguar lineup since its release.

The F-Type faces some competition from the BMW M2, but its main rival comes from the Porsche Cayman and Porsche 911. Although, the release of the Toyota Supra has not gone unnoticed.

The first-generation F-Type remained relatively unchanged until 2019 when a facelift was unveiled for both the roadster and the fastback coupé models. The facelift featured slender taillamps, a set of new paint options, and various interior updates.

The F-Type had a number of engine options since launch, albeit all on the larger side. These include a more modest 3-liter supercharged Jaguar V6 and a brutal 5-liter supercharged Jaguar V8.

As of 2018, a smaller 2-liter turbocharged Ingenium engine was made available as the entry-level option. To no surprise, all of the F-Type engines are petrol-only to keep performance high.

Along with sportier engines, there has been a selection of sports variants of the F-Type. These include the SVR and the SVR GT4. The former made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, while the latter was made for the British GT Championship.

With the facelift came another selection of different options, ranging from the P300 to the R P575, the sports version.

The SVR features a whopping 567 hp from its 5-liter engine. With this, the SVR became the first production Jaguar to reach 322 km/h since the famous Jaguar XJ220.
