About the Q50

The Infiniti Q50 is an executive car that fails to hit the mark in pretty much every area. The car’s purpose was to disrupt the European market and rival the likes of BMW and Audi. However, the Q50 is so flawed and poor value for money that virtually any other executive car would be a better choice. Unfortunately, Infiniti just needs to go back to the drawing board with the car.

Under the hood, the Infiniti Q50 is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine, producing 208 horsepower. The engine itself isn’t bad, but other brands simply offer better specs for the same price. In fact, a BMW would offer a twin-turbo for the same price as the standard Q50. This ultimately makes the Q50 extremely slow and inflexible when compared to its rivals, showing it to be a very poor choice if you’re looking for an executive car.

There’s also a hybrid option available, which is actually pretty quick, producing 370 horsepower. Infiniti also advertises the hybrid as a money saver, but this is simply false. The Q50 will always put you in a high insurance bracket, which will essentially mitigate any fuel savings you might make.

The suspension is equally as disappointing. Particularly on the rear-wheel-drive versions, the suspension feels stiff, and every bump will be felt through your spine. The steering is also unresponsive and incredibly archaic when compared to rivals.

It is also the same story with the sibling model, the Q60 - things are less than perfect with that line too.

The story just gets worse when you enter the cabin. The cabin is comprised of cheap and poor-quality materials, making the whole thing feel insecure and flimsy. The styling is also very out of date. Even the infotainment system is slow and unresponsive, which is extremely annoying and makes driving the Q50 an even worse burden.
