About the STS

The Cadillac Seville Touring Sedan (STS) was a midsize luxury sedan first produced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. It ceased production and sale in the US in 2011, but continued to be sold until 2013 in China, but in that market it was known as the SLS.

Cadillac STS models were only released as a single main generation, but it did receive a notable facelift in 2008 with a refreshed exterior, larger front grille, chrome finishes on the fender vents, new interior materials and a new steering wheel.

Powertrain options in the Cadillac STS ranged from the standard 2.0L inline-4 to a powerful 4.6L V8 engine, the latter of which delivered up to 320-hp and 315 lb-ft of torque. A number of V6 engines were also available, and became the standard for the refreshed version as a 3.6L V6 engine on the 2008 model that managed 302-hp and 272 lb-ft of torque.

As with many Cadillac sedan models, the STS also received a high-performance executive car specification called the STS-V. The V-Series model featured a 4.4L V8 engine delivering up to 469-hp and 439 lb-ft of torque, and could launch from 0 to 60 in just 4.6 seconds with a quarter-mile time of just 13.2 seconds.

The V-Series model got a wire mesh grille, as well as a different bumper design and front light cluster design. The engine also includes a supercharger, which was accommodated by making the hood into a so-called “power dome” shape.

After 9 years of sales, the STS was eventually replaced with the larger third-generation Cadillac CTS model that was introduced for the 2014 model year. While not a formal vehicle-for-vehicle replacement, the new CTS occupied the same price range as the STS.
