About the Talento

The Talento is a light commercial van that was manufactured by Fiat between 2016 and 2020. During its time on the market, the Italian carmaker only released a single generation.

The model was discontinued after Renault announced that it would not be continuing to supply the Talento to Fiat as a result of the PSA Group merger with Stellantis.

Like various other vehicles in the Stellantis Group lineup, it was a rebadged and minimally restyled version of the very popular Renault Trafic. The high acclaim that the Trafic received easily made it a suitable candidate for Fiat to release a rebadged version.

Owing to the numerous similarities between the two models, it shares the same 4-door van layout as the Trafic. It is driven only through the front wheels as there is no four-wheel drive trim offered.

The seating layout meant it was capable of seating up to 8 passengers, along with the driver.

Other similar models include the Toyota ProAce and the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro.

Trim levels were made up of four options. These included the Standard, the SX, the Tecnico, and the Sportivo. Neither the Tecnico nor Sportivo trim packages represent the typical premium tier found in most other cars. Instead, they feature various features that helped suit them to specific light commercial work.

Upon its release, powertrain options were limited to one diesel engine, but this 1.6-liter R9M inline-4 engine came with four different power outputs. Fiat released two single turbocharged versions, as well as two twin-turbocharged versions.

Fiat later replaced this engine with a 2-liter with three varied power outputs. There was never a petrol or an electric version released.

Transmission choices were limited to a 6-speed manual initially. However, a 6-speed direct-shift automatic gearbox was later released.
