About the Fluence

Renault built the Fluence at the Oyak plant in Bura, Turkey. Described as a compact sedan, the Fluence was based on the C Platform (aslo seen under the Nissan X-Trail and Rogue) and began production in August 2009. In some countries, the vehicle also carries the name badge Renault Samsung SM3 and was first showcased at the Seoul Motor Show.

Numerous engine configurations were created, a 1.6-liter producing 110 horsepower, 2-liter with 140 horsepower and a diesel 1.5-liter dCi engine with 85 horsepower. For Argentina and Brazil, a ports edition of the Fluence was created and in 2012 Renault changed the front grille for a slight update. This newer model was taken to and shown at the Istanbul Motor Show.

In keeping with modern market trends, Renault designed the Fluence ZE, an all-electric vehicle sold onwards from 2009. November 2012 saw a brand new version of the Fluence, a car designed fully in-house by a team of Renault's top engineers. The Fluence GT was designed in a bid to appeal to the customer who was looking for something that offers a little more than the typical sedan. Special attention was paid to the suspension, the interior (leather trim was used in a bid to heighten the quality) and the engine, which was coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

There were a number of countries the Fluence was sold in, enjoying varying success in each. The markets in which it did particularly well were the Middle East, North Africa, Egypt, China, Latin America and Malaysia.
