About the ID.2
Volkswagen premiered the ID.2all concept car on the 15th of March, 2023, in Hamburg, Germany. According to Volkswagen, the ID.2all, expected to go on sale in Europe in 2025 with a starting price of less than 25,000 euros, will be a car for the masses. Like the other cars in the ID family of battery-electric vehicles, the ID.2all will be built on the EV-dedicated MEB platform.
The ID.2all will be the first MEB vehicle to be front-wheel drive. Its powerful, front-axle-mounted electric drive motor has a power output of 166 kW (223 hp), making it one of the punchiest motors in the growing subcompact electric car segment. The ID.2all will be able to accelerate from 0-100 km in 7 seconds on the way to a top speed of 160 km/h. Volkswagen says there will be two battery options: 38kWh and 56kWh. The latter is expected to deliver a driving range of up to 450 km. With the car’s 125kW DC fast charger, both batteries can recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
The current design boss at Volkswagen - Andreas Mindt, says the design will be based on stability, likeability, and excitement. The ID.2all’s exterior is meant to be dynamic while having a friendly face and will incorporate a C-pillar design that was initially developed for the first VW Golf. The body will have a clean, classy silhouette with a powerful stance. The vehicle will have a length of 4,050 mm, 1,812 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height. The wheels will be 225/40 R20, and a wheelbase of 2,600 mm.
Volkswagen also says the ID.2all’s interior is spacious and looks refined and sophisticated with its advanced 12.9-inch infotainment display and sleek design. At the back, its storage volume will be 490–1,330 litres. Also worth noting is that ID.2all will have premium safety and convenience innovations, like travel assist, intelligent lights, and an electric vehicle route planner.
