About the XE

The Jaguar XE is a compact executive car produced by Jaguar. It has been a part of their lineup since its release in 2015.

Upon its release, the XE became the successor to the Jaguar X-Type, which was discontinued in 2009.

The XE is available only in a 4-door sedan layout and is based on the Jaguar Land Rover D7a platform. There has only been one generation of the XE at current.

The XE competes against its German counterparts in the same class, being the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It also faces competition from the Italian Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Hinting at the desired performance of the XE, engine options start with the conservative 2-liter Ford EcoBoost and go through to a powerful 5-liter supercharged V8.

There is also a diesel version available with a 2-liter turbocharged Ingenium engine. These also came with a host of power outputs for the diesel engine, despite having the same capacity.

The layout for the XE consists of a front-mounted engine with either rear- or all-wheel-drive. Transmissions range from a 6-speed manual to an 8-speed automatic, depending on the engine selected.

The XE boasts a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, the highest attainable. It also has very good ratings against theft, as tested by the New Vehicle Security Ratings organization.

A special edition of the XE was released under the name of SV Project 8 in 2017. Production was limited to only 300 vehicles worldwide. The SV Project 8 is the model that features the 5-liter supercharged engine.
