About the Hardtop
The Mini Hardtop --- known as the Mini Hatch in other markets --- might be one of the most iconic and unforgettable hot hatchback cars ever made. The original Mini dates back to the late 1950s, and was made world-famous through films such as The Italian Job, as well as it being the car of the infamous Mr Bean.
After BMW bought the Mini brand in the late 1990s, they released their first Mini Hardtop production models for the 2001 model year. While the new designs were somewhat controversial at first, the market came around to the new designs, loving that the original concept had been honored while also adding a great deal of modern flair to it at the same time.
In its newest model year, the Mini Cooper Hardtop starts at $24,250, with 3 additional trim levels on top, the Cooper S Hardtop (from $27,750), Cooper Convertible (from $29,250), and Cooper S Convertible (from $32,750).
The Mini Hardtop is characterized by distinctive exterior styling, sporty performance, and fun driving dynamics. Each of its 3 generations has delivered surprisingly powerful engines for cars of its size, not to mention superlative and precise handling.
Since the launch of its third generation back in 2013, the Mini Hardtop range has expanded to include a battery-electric version known as the Mini Electric (or Cooper SE), which was first introduced in 2020 and offers 144 miles of range on a single charge of its 32.6-kWh battery.
The interior of the Hardtop includes optional leather seating, a decent-sized infotainment system housed in the central circular housing, retro-styled instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and other modern conveniences that people want.
The trunk is small, only offering 8.7 cubic feet of cargo space, but cargo space is hardly the reason people invest in a Mini Hardtop. Those who want more utility can opt for other Mini-brand cars like the Countryman crossover.
