About the Tribute

For just over a decade the Mazda Tribute SUV was in production and sold all around the world.

The SUV was finally replaced by the more stylish and less off-road capable CX-5 as consumer tastes changed.

Engine choices for the original version of the Tribute back when it was released in the year 2000 included a 2.3 inline 4 cylinder or 3.0-liter V6.

Transmission choices were pretty limited as buyers could only choose between a 4 speed automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

With the introduction of the second-generation Mazda Tribute models engine choices stayed the same but buyers could opt for a more advanced 6-speed automatic transmission.

A hybrid trim of the SUV was made available in 2009 but with its lackluster improvement of just 1 mile to the gallon, it failed to entice customers.

The hybrid version contains several warning lights that are unique to this trim to let the driver know the technology is ready to take over with its electric motors.

Sales were weak for the Tribute and never improved until it was replaced by the much more popular CX-5 model from Mazda.
