About the Ioniq 7

Hyundai presented the Ioniq 7 (SEVEN) concept to the world at the 2021 AutoMobility LA auto show in Los Angeles, California. The Ioniq 7 is Hyundai’s first-ever three-row electric SUV. The brand also refers to it as the first true SUEV(Sport Utility Electric Vehicle). It is expected to debut in the United States in 2024. Hyundai says the Ioniq 7’s customer-centric features will enhance people’s everyday experiences.

The Ioniq 7 (SEVEN) concept shows what the Ioniq 7 production models will look like. Its cabin is plush and sophisticated, with seats arranged like a lounge. The swivelling front chairs are customisable depending on the mode of driving. Because it is designed for autonomous driving, this vehicle’s driver’s seat will have a retractable control stick that can be hidden when not in use.

The concept vehicle also features enormous doors that open from the middle, a unique dashboard with an infotainment display, a panoramic OLED roof display, and a mini fridge. Hyundai also states that the production-ready Ioniq 7 will have ample space in all three rows of seats. It is also designing the cabin with eco-friendly materials like mineral plaster, bamboo wood, copper, bio-resin, hygienically treated fabric, and interior paint based on renewable materials. Also worth noting is that the Ioniq 7 will have a hygienic airflow system to control the air you want in the cabin. After departing from the vehicle, Hyundai states that the control stick, first-row storage drawer, and speakers will pop up and sanitising UVC lights will help clean the space. The lights will also sanitise storage compartments under the bench seat and universal island.

On the outside, the Ioniq 7 features a sweeping roofline that curves to the rear and a hood with smooth, clean lines and a dipping edge; both aspects will make it aerodynamically pure. It also has a strip of slim upper LED lights similar to Kia EV9’s and signature parametric pixel lights expected to display a welcome light sequence. The wheels have an active air flap system to reduce air resistance.

The upcoming Ioniq 7 is based on Hyundai’s advanced Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), so it is expected to have best-in-class EV battery and charging technology. Regarding range, expect the Ioniq 7’s battery to be good for up to 482 km (300 miles) of driving range when fully charged. According to Hyundai, this battery is expected to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in just 20 minutes when using an available 350-kW charger.
