About the Fit

The Honda Fit (also marketed as the Jazz) is a 5-door B-Segment Supermini or ‘Subcompact’ car. Initially sold worldwide from 2001 onward, the Fit has been manufactured in 10 plants in 8 different countries.

As of 2013, 5 million models had been sold. It is known as the Jazz in Europe, Oceania, Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia and India; and the Honda Fit in Japan, Sri Lanka, China, Taiwan and The Americas. The Fit shares Honda's global small-car platform with the City, Airwave, first-generation Mobilio, Freed and HR-V/Vezel. The Fit features Hondas ‘magic seats,’ so-called for their ability to fold several ways to accommodate its cargo. The hybrid petrol-electric car came out in 2010, closely followed by the Fit EV, a fully all-electric alternative.

The second-generation won car of the year in Japan and made its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2007. It featured a longer wheelbase and two engine options, 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter. Exclusively for the Japanese market, Honda created the Honda Fit Shuttle, which as its name might suggest, is a station wagon.

The overall design of the third generation is fairly close to its predecessors. This newer Fit retains the center-located fuel tanks and the multi-configuration interior concept. This model was quite a bit longer allowing for more passenger legroom and passenger volume. It had a noticeably longer wheelbase and the body panels were welded and bolted to the frame in a hybrid monocoque and spaceframe fusion.

A third-generation debuted at the North America International Auto Show in 2014 and highlighted its new features including a rear-view multi-view camera, lane watch assistance and passenger side view camera.
