About the e

The Honda e is an electric five-door hatchback, which might sound pretty boring and unexciting. However, the e’s retro look, futuristic tech and impressive driving range have proved this car to be one of the most exciting electric cars on the market today. It’s certainly not flawless, but its character and personality shine through, making the Honda e a great choice for anyone looking to go electric.

It is inspired by the original Civic hatchback that helped launch the Japanese automaker into being an international success back in the 1970s.

Underneath, the e is equipped with an electric motor producing 134 horsepower as standard. This is on the weaker end of the power spectrum and as such, Honda does also offer a 152 horsepower version, which is better in every way. The more powerful motor allows the Honda e to accelerate from 0-60 in just over 8 seconds. The acceleration feels great, and there’s absolutely no lag thanks to the electric technology.

Beyond this, the e is very pleasing to drive. The steering is very precise and agile, even for a sporty hatchback. This means that you can go into corners very quickly and live to tell the tale at the end. The suspension is on the firmer side, which does compromise comfort, but it also helps performance.

The outside of the Honda e may feel very retro, but the inside is anything but. Thanks to the wide range of technology, the electric car feels extremely futuristic as soon as you enter the cabin. This cabin overall feels sturdy and secure, with high-quality materials being used throughout. There’s also a decent amount of room for a hatchback, and you’ll benefit from a front boot too.

As for infotainment, the e comes with three different touchscreen screens. At first, these may seem great, but they are flawed. The screens are pretty unresponsive, which can seriously hinder overall usability.
